Ozone for Life
The importance of the Ozone layer in sustaining life on our planet is know to all. This deep layer in the earth’s atmosphere not only protects our planet from the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation but also absorbs it to help warm the stratosphere to support life. Friday, September 16, 2020 observed as the World Ozone Day, this years theme is ‘Ozone for life’ – celebrating 35 years of Ozone layer protection since the global communities and governments united to work towards its protection.
It was in the 1970-80’s when the scientists understood the problems that could arise in future with the depletion of the ozone layer due to the excessive use of CFC’s and HCFC’s in refrigeration and other industries and together with support from governments all over the world could bring about a change.
But still there are several areas contributing to global warming through increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases such as Carbon Dioxide, Methane and Nitrous Oxide in the environment leading to adverse effects on the climate. This is understood by the fact that these gasses are also by-products of our excessive reliance on fossil fuels.
But nonetheless, we should be proud of what has been achieved since the 80s to turn back the devastating damage done to this protective ozone blanket on our planet. It only shows what we all can achieve together with a common objective in mind. And that communities around the world can together work towards climate change and bring in a positive change.
Thankfully worldover people are realizing that our dependence on fossil fuels is unsustainable. With the recent dramatic shift towards renewable energy sources to help counter these negative side effects of the ozone layer reforms we are hopeful of a brighter future.
At SolarMaxx we take every step possible to increase the production of solar energy and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels to mitigate global warming by lowering the emission of greenhouse gases. The production of solar energy has minimal CO2 emissions, little water usage, it is inexhaustible, and it is safe.
The Global electricity production using solar power has multiplied manifold in the recent years. Since solar is not a fuel, but a technology, therefore owing to economies of scale and increasing efficiency, prices of solar technology and supply continue to fall even today. As a result, the need for fossil fuels is falling worldwide.
Let us together support the fight against climate change and the depletion of the life-sustaining ozone layer. By supporting the use of renewable energy, solar power being one of these sources, we are supporting the preservation of our planet Earth.
